Big News from Easter Island |
Sometimes it can take a month or more for shipments to get to the Island. One of the world's most remote islands, its distance from Chile is the reason that shipping is so expensive. Either something gets put on board a cargo ship, and takes weeks or months to arrive, or it gets put on a Lan Chile plane to be delivered in a couple of days at ruinous expense. Interestingly, because of customs and cargo transfers, even an overnight shipment can take three weeks or more to arrive at the Island. Mauricio Romero owns the only recording studio on the Island, and has agreed to let PME distribute the local artists on an exclusive, worldwide basis. So what happens to that money? Well, PME has decided not to keep the profits. We're acting as middlemen for the Island's treasured musical perspective, and we'll funnel ALL the profits right back to Mauricio for use not only in the studio, but also in public performances on the Island.
